Who Can Enter?
Are you 18 to 22 years old by June 1, 2026? If so, you could be the next Miss Boone County! You don’t need to live in Boone County, but you must be an active or former Boone County 4-H member with at least four completed 4-H projects to your name. Plus, you should be involved in a community organization because we value leaders who give back!

A Day in the Life of Miss Boone County
Picture this: you’re at the center of the Boone County Fair, presenting awards at 4-H shows, chatting with excited participants, and even judging quirky contests like the cat cage decorating competition. From riding in the Lebanon 4th of July parade to having a go at showing a llama, you’ll experience the fair like never before!

Your role doesn’t stop when the fair ends – you’ll represent Boone County at events throughout the year and take on the ultimate challenge by competing in the Miss Indiana State Fair Program.

Requirements, Judging Criteria and More

    1. Contestants must be at least 18 years old and no older than 21 by June 1, 2026.

    2. Contestants must be active members of at least one community organization (e.g., church group, Girl Scouts, 4-H club).

    3. Contestants must have completed at least one year of Boone County 4-H and four 4-H projects in Boone County prior to the current year.

    4. Contestants who have previously competed in the Miss Indiana State Fair Queen Contest may compete and serve on the court but are not eligible to win the title of Miss Boone County Fair Queen.

    5. The individual selected as Miss Boone County will represent the county in the Indiana State Fair Queen Program. If this individual becomes ineligible, the first runner-up may represent Boone County.

    6. Contestants should maintain appropriate online behavior on social media, as their internet presence may be reviewed by the Queen Program Committee and/or Fair Board.

  • The Boone County Fair Queen will be selected on the basis of poise, personality and the ability to converse. The judging is divided into four divisions.

    • Personal Interview (Attire: Black pants or skirt and white blouse) Ability to converse, Poise, and Personality (50%)

    • Professional Wear (Attire: Suit, Pant Suit or Dress - A suit does not have to be of the same fabric – separates are allowed.) Posture, Poise, and Overall Impression (20%)

    • Prepared Speech (Attire: Professional Wear) Each contestant will prepare a speech no longer than one minute. Speeches will be scored on natural speaking ability, delivery, poise and originality. Props, music and visual aids will not be allowed. (10%)

    • Formal Wear (Attire: Formal Gown or Tuxedo - When choosing a formal gown, at least one portion of the hemline must be floor length, touching the floor or contestant’s foot. Judges may discount skirt slits more than 2” above the knee cap and/or a low-cut bodice or inappropriate cut or design. Any style tuxedo is acceptable and must include pants, jacket and tie.) Posture, Poise, and Overall Impression (20%)

    1. The Queen and her Court (made up of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Runners-Up) will serve as the official host for activities during the week of the Boone County Fair. The Queen and Court’s schedule of appearances will be under the direction of the fair board and the queen program committee.

    2. The winning contestants will receive their gifts at the contest or in the week following.

    3. Should the 2025 Miss Boone County become ineligible before the 2026 queen is crowned, they will forfeit their title, the crown, scholarship, and crystal gift to the first runner-up. Should the first runner-up become ineligible they will forfeit the title, scholarship, crown and crystal gift to the second runner-up.

    4. The Queen and her Court will be expected to follow the assigned schedule of appearances, attire and behavior expectations. 

    1. The winner (or first runner-up if the winner becomes ineligible) will represent Boone County at the Indiana State Fair Queen Program competition  January 4-6, 2026 and must abide by the State Fair rules.

    2. If Boone County’s representative is selected as the Miss Indiana State Fair Queen 2026, they must agree to accept no other titles for a period of twelve months following the 2026 State Fair, except with prior approval of the Indiana State Fair Board.

    3. Indiana State Fair Queen Program competition contestants will be divided into groups, with each group assigned an adult, female chaperone by the Indiana State Fair Queen Program Coordinator.

    4. The 2026 Indiana State Fair Queen Program Competition will be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds: January 4-6, 2026. NOTE: Should it be deemed unsafe for contestants to travel to and/or hold the Queen Program competition as originally scheduled due to severe winter weather, the 2025 Indiana State Fair Queen Program competition will be held January 11-13, 2026.

The Miss Boone County Fair Queen Contest isn’t just another competition – it’s a legacy of leadership, personal growth, and community involvement that has spanned 66 remarkable years. Since its inception, this contest has helped shape young women into confident, capable leaders, both in Boone County and beyond.

With a proud history that includes two Miss Indiana State Fair Queens, several state finalists, and multiple runner-up title holders, our program stands out. But the true success of our contestants doesn’t stop at the county and state fair level. Many participants have gone on to become influential community leaders, successful professionals, and inspiring role models who make a real difference in the world around them.
